Over the past eight months, I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating closely with Professor Patrick Pennefather, a resident faculty member at UBC’s Emerging Media Lab. Our work together has focused on exploring the intersection of generative AI and artistic creation, with a particular emphasis on pushing the boundaries of both technology and education.
Patrick's expertise in sound design, interactive experiences, and generative AI has been integral to the development of our collaborative projects, including the Vancouver AI Community Meetups, where he regularly presents, and the Shakespeare XR Initiative, which reimagines classical literature through modern technology. His approach to interdisciplinary collaboration and project-based learning aligns closely with our vision at Future Proof Creatives, allowing us to engage deeply with both the academic and creative communities.
Additionally, UBC students have had the opportunity to showcase their AI projects at our meetups, benefiting from the visibility and feedback provided by our industry network. This relationship has been a mutually enriching experience, enhancing innovation and knowledge exchange between our organizations.
